When people say, 'I couldn't foster because it would be to hard to give a dog up' We say 'How can it be harder than knowing a dog died because no foster home stepped up?' and that's why we do it time and time again.
A Dog's Prayer: "Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in the entire world is more grateful for your kindness than mine. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. After all, you have your job, your friends and your entertainment. I only have you."

Black Matt's story:

My official name is Black Matt, but my foster parents call me Puppy.  I’m rather a unique looking little guy, with a terrier face, long legs and long body.  My hair is mostly jet black and silky fine and needs combing regularly.   I’m a loving little boy who absolutely adores belly rubs and sitting near my foster parents.  I love to run and jump, play and chew.  Running figure eights in the back yard, and chasing tennis balls are amongst my favourite things to do.  After big bursts of energy, there’s nothing better than a drink of water and a long nap next to my foster mom.

And now a few words from my foster mom:

Puppy came from a shelter in Louisiana, and his background is unknown.  We suspect that somebody abandoned him.  He arrived in our care so horribly matted, It took 3 hours of careful scissoring to cut the matts out, as they went down to the skin.  Throughout this, even though we were not known to him, he let us do it without any signs whatsoever of aggression.  The matts were so widespread that they caused a bit of balding on various parts of his body.  The bald patches are now growing in nicely with the slightest of peach fuzz evident.

We think that Puppy has great potential for flyball or agility, as he can run like the wind and turn on a dime although sometime the puppy clumsiness still is evident.  We recommend that Puppy be taken to formal training classes to learn the basics like sit, come, stay and leash walking.  He would not be suited to an apartment or semi detached home, as he is quite vocal, and needs a secure place to run.  We certainly enjoy Puppy’s presence here, as his enthusiasm regularly puts a smile on our faces.
