When people say, 'I couldn't foster because it would be to hard to give a dog up' We say 'How can it be harder than knowing a dog died because no foster home stepped up?' and that's why we do it time and time again.
A Dog's Prayer: "Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in the entire world is more grateful for your kindness than mine. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. After all, you have your job, your friends and your entertainment. I only have you."

Max (Yorkie x) - New arrival May 8, 2011

Max was found as a stray by a wonderful family who decided to take him in for a few weeks until his owner could be found. ** Max was severely matted and not neutered when he was found, so he did appear to be neglected**  After many unsuccessful attempts to locate his original owner, it was decided that  Max would be surrendered to rescue.   Max is very  puppy like (loves to play!) and very agile (can fit through things quickly and easily/can jump baby gates!), so a home with another dog of similar energy would be a huge PLUS for Max AND a home with a fully fenced and secured back yard is a MUST.   Max is very friendly and social and loves to play with other dogs, however, Max does NOT get along with cats at all!  So a home with NO cats for this little guy; he will bark and chase the cats obsessively.  He is a very sweet little dog who loves to just be with you.  He would make an excellent lap dog! One thing that he does need help with is his excitability and how he responds to excitement. When he's excited, he sometimes will 'nip' at people, mainly men.  Excitement seems to be his trigger and this can tend to sometimes set him off....so he is also going to need a home that can work with him on stopping this undesired behavior.  He is a very smart dog, a quick study and responds very well to correction. He is very submissive with people and other dogs, he just needs to learn.   He was never taught how to behave appropriately when he's excited.  Max was recently neutered and is now ready to search for his forever home and family.
