Here is a brief clip of Caleb jumping our 41 inch gate.  

He completely clears baby gates,

so we thought a taller gate might do the trick.  We were wrong..  LOL

Caleb will most definitely need a tall, secured, good-sized, fenced yard 

I apologize for it being filmed sideways, but I wanted to be sure

to get everything in

Caleb LOVES walks and going to the dog park,

so whenever we go out now, he panics and thinks we're 

going to the park without him.  Poor Caleb; he's so SILLY!

Caleb would be an excellent candidate for agility or fly-ball, 

anything where he can run, jump etc.  He LOVES to play with

other dogs.  Oh yeah, and did I mention he's super SMART too!

I've posted these videos of Caleb previously and individually, but thought I'd

post them all together in the same post to make it easier to

see all his videos all at once.  

Caleb is a pretty amazing little dog with so much spirit and heart. 

Not a malicious bone in this little guys body...at all!  Sweetness

personified and one of the nicest temperaments we've seen in 

a foster dog, given Caleb's horrible past.  He's such a fun-

loving, forgiving little soul who overcomes pretty quick.

It was so much fun getting together at the park with

another Cuban beauty named Lily along with her

mom.  Lily was adopted 

last year from Cuba.  While we were at the park,

Caleb hit it off with another little dog named Ernest. 

Little did we know that Ernest is a former LOYAL foster

dog as well!  Out of ALL the dogs at the park...

do you think Caleb sensed this ahead of time? Lol 

Gotta wonder.  He is a very smart boy afterall!

Caleb at 'Toto' Park in Mississauga, Ontario

One of  favourite places to take all new foster dogs to is 'Toto' Park, or more specifically, 'Totoredaca Dog Park' in Mississauga, Ontario.  It's a 'leash free' outdoor park for all dogs, big and small, old and young to come and hang out, play, socialize.

Before entering 'Toto' Park, there are a few things you'll first need to know: 

I love the dog wash!  

For some of my 'Toto' Park friends, it's as much a place for them to meet up with other dogs lovers to socialize and interact as it is for the dogs!  I particularly love this leash free park because it has a 'Committee' and Membership to join, although membership is not mandatory, however, it does help cover costs involved in up-keep of the park and keeping it clean and safe for all who visit and enjoy it, in addition to fundraising events to help with costs.  As you can see from my photos, there is lots to do at 'Toto' Park.  There is a professional agility area (enclosed) as well as several doggie swimming pools for the dogs to cool off as well as watering areas for the dogs to drink.  There is also a 'doggie wash' area as you leave 'Toto' Park where you can wash your dog off at the 'doggie wash' as you leave the park.  There's even an 'outhouse' for humans!  Lots of trees, wonderfully maintained gardens and a nice board-walk as you enter.  I love going through the mini hike area that is fully shaded.  What I especially love about this park is that everyone is held accountable for their dogs and everyone looks out for everyone.  There always seems to be a committee member there on any given day/time of the week to oversee the park.  It's very well maintained and cared for by many.  There are also many dog related activities held in the park as well.  The park is open very late into the evening, so if you aren't able to get there during the day, there are large overhead lights that can be turned on.

Caleb now knows how to fetch and retrieve the ball!  Yay for Caleb!

Caleb and Chia at Woofstock 2012 Toronto, Ontario

Caleb and Chia did really well for their first ever Woofstock, which was held in Toronto June 9-10 in the St. Lawrence Market area.  I couldn't be more proud of both of them!  You would never know they were here for just a few short weeks, as they really enjoyed taking in all the sights, saying hi to everyone and meeting new doggie friends.  

Man, was it ever a hot one though!  

Thank DOG for all those watering stations, fountains and 'misting' spots to cool them, and us off!

He'Art of Rescue, A Fundraiser for a great cause!

We had the privilege of attending a very important fundraising event this past weekend to help save many puppies in urgent need in Turkey.  To say were were honoured to be in the company of so many amazing rescue volunteers is an understatement!

He'Art of Rescue in Istanbul has been trying to raise much needed funds to rescue 9 puppies (out of 25) that were saved from deplorable conditions in a shelter there.  This fundraiser was for 7 pups remaining that could be helped right away.  These puppies are very sick and undergoing very extensive and expensive veterinary care.  The pups were then brought to a clinic to be treated for various diseases.  When they are well enough, they will then be placed up for adoption.  The hope is to eventually bring them to Canada, and into loving homes, where they will have a chance.  So far, only one pup named 'Sydney' was healthy enough to come to Canada and was in attendance at the fundraiser.  


It was very heart-warming to see so many in attendance and who also donated their time and services for these beautiful puppies, and Thank You to Ola, the hostess with the most-est and countless volunteers for organizing this momentous event and for all you do to help all animals. In spite of a bit of rain, it was a HUGE success!  Without you, this would not have been possible and the remaining pups will now have a fighting chance.

Mighty Mutts Dog Training and Ola, Dog Trainer extra-ordinaire did a fantastic job with the agility course and helping us with our 'foster dogs'  issues...ie. Chia and Caleb's incessant, excitable barking at all the other dogs and insisting to say 'hello' to every single one of them!  LOL  Not to mention Chia's constant whining because she felt that every 'new' dog friend MUST say hello to her and like her.  LOL  Check out Mighty Mutts Dog Training on their Facebook Page and 'Like' them.  I promise you won't be disappointed!

Without an X-ray available in Cuba, the vets there could not X-ray his leg; However, Caleb's leg HAS been reviewed by several vets here and it has been concluded that Caleb's leg is well on the way to healing now and we should continue to let it heal. No surgical intervention is warranted. Caleb is not all hindered by this and is able to use his leg. When all of that is done, someone out there is going to be a very happy Mum or Dad, 'cause this little guy is a sweetheart.  

As you can see from the VIDEO , it certainty does not appear to hinder or stop him from enjoying life to the fullest.   Full speed ahead for this sweet little guy.

New Foster Caleb!

Welcome to Canada Caleb!

Caleb hails from Cuba, along with his fellow Cuban girl, Chia.  After life on the streets, both Caleb and Chia were two of the lucky ones who were not only saved and brought back to good health with the help of APAC and a local vet and his wife, but both also miraculously found their way to Canada and into LOYAL Rescue Inc.!   Very lucky little dogs indeed!

Caleb is the most easy going, sweet, friendly, loving little guy you will ever meet.  Goofy-ness + is the only way to describe this one year old Whippet-Lab x (best guess).   Caleb is puppy-like in many ways and a busy boy.  He is happy-go-lucky kinda guy!  We can't talk about Caleb without mentioning those ears!!!   They just add so much more character to this little guy.

Caleb would be suitable for a home with or without children (although I think he'd really love children).  Caleb really LOVES to play with other dogs of any kind and will attempt to play with the even 'not so willing 'dog, so a home with at least one other dog of similar energy would be a plus for this playful guy.  A larger, securely fenced yard is  a must for this active fellow who can really run and jump...or an owner with an active lifestyle who can keep him busy.  Caleb is very docile with other dogs and with humans and will make himself right at home almost instantly, he's just that easy going.   He is mostly house trained and is becoming more comfortable with his crate training; he still sometimes will 'complain' a bit initially when he's in his crate, but is overcoming this more and more.  Caleb is still learning.  Caleb is perfecting 'sit' and 'stay' and still has some learning to do, but he's a real smart fellow who loves to please.  Not bad for a street dog who just arrived a few short weeks ago.  He's also working on his 'manners' and is a quick learner.  This boy does not have a mean bone in his body and would make any family so proud.
