When people say, 'I couldn't foster because it would be to hard to give a dog up' We say 'How can it be harder than knowing a dog died because no foster home stepped up?' and that's why we do it time and time again.
A Dog's Prayer: "Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in the entire world is more grateful for your kindness than mine. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. After all, you have your job, your friends and your entertainment. I only have you."

Teddy and Bear, a year and a half later...

Teddy and Bear were two of the first dogs we fostered for LOYAL Rescue Inc.  They came to us right out of a puppy mill in September of 2009.  After many, many months and lots of interest in both individually, we realized that finding the most perfect forever home for this pair together was going to be quite a feat.  Non the less I stuck to my guns and turned away anyone who was not going to take them as a pair; I just couldn't bare to separate them. 3 months into fostering them we reluctantly decided to do a 'trial' separation and another LOYAL foster mom helped us out and came and took Teddy to live with her for a week. Well it was the longest, worst week we ever went through.  Bear didn't eat at first but started to eat after a few days BUT Teddy didn't fair as well.  The other foster home had trouble with him adjusting to life without his brother.  That's where this story takes a dramatic and sudden unexpected turn...
We received the most AMAZING application RIGHT before CHRISTMAS for BOTH boys and I can't tell you how overjoyed we were; finally...a  MIRACLE did happen after-all for these two sweet, loving little shi tzu's.  I considered this a sign; a Christmas Miracle for our foster boys because never in our wildest dreams could this have happened at a better time; I was just NOT prepared to separate them.
The most perfect family drove 3 hours on January 12, 2010  (each way on a weeknight) to meet their newest little family members and it was instant love at first sight!!  The fact that they drove 3 hours each way on a weeknight and couldn't get here fast enough spoke volumes to us as to how much they were wanted and would be loved. Both boys took to their new family  right away and a bond was forming while they visited.  My heart was breaking inside at the thought of saying goodbye to them that night, but knowing that they were going to be loved and cherished more then anything in the world.  I was a blubbering idiot (for lack of a better word!) as they left and all of us hugged and said our goodbyes.  I remember Bear not wanting to go and looking back as they were putting him in the car as if to say 'mom' what is happening?  It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, especially with being new to rescue, but the most rewarding to know that they were going to have a great life; plus, it also meant that two more spaces opened up for us to take in and save more rescue dogs.
We have received several updates on the boys since they left us and these are their update pictures from their new home.  They are HOME...
